This morning, I purchased this beauty:

This noir-inspired work of genius comes courtesy of Mike Mitchell (you can also find him on twitter @sirmitchell). He did the piece for the Parks & Rec panel at Paley Fest. The poster is a limited edition so if you’re at all interested in purchasing one, I’d do it sooner than later.

If TV’s funniest comedy isn’t your style, Gallery 1988 also has a few other gorgeous pieces of boob-tube inspired art. Check out a few of them below.

Mork & Mindy

True Blood

Saved By The Bell

You can purchase any of these for me. My birthday is in August. I promise to act surprised.

You know those Groupons for canvas wrapped photo prints? They always seem like a great idea but since I don’t take enough photos or want giant pictures of my friends in my apartment, I never take advantage of them. But then, I saw this:

After years of more Twilight covers than I care to mention, Entertainment Weekly finally got something right.

Someone get the Canvas On Demand people on the phone. I need a 16″ X 20″ of this stat. It will look amazing next to my Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness poster.

Parks & Rec was superb. Southland left me breathless. But the best new episode of anything I watched last week? Greek. It was, dare I say, charming?

I found myself laughing, and smiling, and getting a little sad. We saw all the characters go through a little something but it didn’t feel rushed or forced. Plus we got to learn more about Beaver, which is something I didn’t know I wanted, but I’m glad they did it. (Did we know his name was Walter?)

Anyone still watching this little gem? It used to be the darling of ABC Family, but now that no ones getting pregnant or kidnapped, they hardly talk about it. In fact this may be the final season. Get it in folks. You’re missing out on some truly strong television about an oft-forgotten population, college kids we didn’t meet in high school.

(Next chance to watch? Tonight, 9/8 central on ABC Family)

PS: Before you mention it, I don’t get DirecTV and therefore did not see the FNL finale. I’m guessing it would win hands down.

Amy Poehler’s new vehicle got some pretty crappy early reviews. I just watched it this afternoon, and I was pretty impressed.

Critics say it’s a little too close to The Office (mockumentary style, talking head interviews, naive protagonists you want to root for, etc.) While this critique may be valid, I’m not complaining. If three Law & Order‘s, and three CSI‘s can coexist (under the same title no less) than I am a-okay with a show with a similar format to The Office. Duplicating a funny, and successful comedy? Why the hell not.  A show called Larry Unmarried would be a different story.

Also, it’s fantastic to see Paul Schneider again. I loved him in The Family Stone and All The Real Girls. I didn’t hear about his involvement with the show at all, but he’s definitely a super addition to this cast.

If Kath & Kim can not only last but get a second season pick-up, then Parks & Recreation should find a nice home on NBC Thursday nights. I’m already rooting for it.

Do you realize how much good TV comes on Wednesdays? Wednesday is my new Thursday. Booya.

  • A bunch of analog stations switched over to digital yesterday ahead of the new deadline. So far the FCC is reporting very few issues. Sidenote: A kid I work with just submitted his application for a converter box. I asked him “What took you so long?” He said, “I didn’t know anything about it.” If you don’t watch enough TV to hear about the digital transition, I think it’s okay if we transition without you.
  • Amy Poehler’s new show, Parks & Recreation,  started filming today! Color me geeked! Kristin Dos Santos has an interview with the star herself.
  • Angela Kinsey (Angela from The Office) and her husband Warren Lieberstein have separated. If the name Lieberstein sounds familiar, it’s because Warren is Paul Lieberstein’s (aka Toby Flenderson) brother.
  • I think a recession era economy, novelty shoes should be the first things to go. Check out these Family Guy and Fresh Prince insprired sneakers.
  • Speaking of late night music, U2 is going to perform on Lettermanfor a straight week. I’m sorry, but that just doesn’t sound appealing to me.
  • Speaking of LOST, it better watch it’s back. It’s losing viewers every week and it will have to compete with American Idol starting in March.
  • After 19 seasons The Simpsons got brand new opening titles. It’s the same general theme but we get to see a lot more of our town favorites. There’s also a few homages to past episodes in there.
  • Guess which washed up early 90’s rapper is getting a TV show? MC Hammer. I know, I was hoping for Snow too.
  • Tracy Morgan’s apartment caught fire due to a busted light in a fish tank. Surprisingly the fish were okay, as were the rest of the folks in his building.
