Today marks Hulu’s 1st birthday! I have a hard time believing its only been a year. I visit it almost everyday, it helps me pass the time when I can’t go to sleep, and its saved me when the occasional DVR-memory lapse occurs. It’s the best site of its kind and I hope it sticks around for awhile.

Hulu is marking the occasion with the first annualĀ  Hulu Awards. Fans voted on some of their favorite clips. You can watch the winners here.

They also put together some pretty interesting lists. My favorite is:

Top 10 Most Searched Shows not on Hulu

  1. Lost
  2. South Park
  3. Gossip Girl
  4. NCIS
  5. CSI
  6. Dexter
  7. Smallville
  8. Star Trek
  9. Weeds
  10. Entourage

So I know I already made my New Year’s Blogolutions, however, I have a whole separate list I would like to bring to your attention: Shows I Want To Start Watching.

Yes, I watch a lot of television but there are some programs I just haven’t given enough time to. I just wrapped up watching the first three seasons of How I Met Your Mother and it was fab. I’d watched the show occasionally before I’m glad I finally devoted the time to catching up.

I think I can fit new programs in my schedule if I cut out some of the crap. Do I need to watch every episode of Gilmore Girls my Tivo records as a suggestion? Probably not. Why am I watching a Made/True Life hybrid episode right now? Beats me. Most of the shows on the list below have received some good reviews and for one reason or another I never got around to giving them a fair shake.

  • Friday Night Lights
  • Damages
  • Gossip Girl
  • The Wire – Yes, fine, I will try to finish the first season.

I think that’s a good start. Anyone else have any other suggestions/DVDs I can borrow? I may need to sign up for Netflix again, a small price to pay for finding my new favorites. I’ll keep all of you posted on the journey. And hey, easy on the spoilers folks.

Hey gang! Brother bear got to blog last night which means I am full of things I missed from yesterday. We missed the hump day update, but let’s just call it that for old times sake. This will be the last one for edubTV 1.0. Single tear.

  • Former Queer as Folk star and current Desperate Housewives man-candy Gale Harold is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident a few days ago. Reports show he is steadily improving but he is far from out of the woods. Harold’s character has a large role in an upcoming episode involving a nightclub fire. The ep is being shot this week and EP Marc Cherry said it will need to be changed a bit. Hopefully he’ll have a speedy recovery.
  • Have you taken the NY Post Television Aptitude tests? I scored perfect on the comedy edition and did just-ok on the drama. Feel free to leave your score in the comments.
  • Finally those Gossip Girl kids get something right. This faux-PSA about the election starring Blake Lively and Penn Badgely is right on the money. It’s executed much better than that whole “Don’t Vote” mumbo-jumbo.
  • Diablo Cody, Steven Spielberg, Toni Collette and John Corbett teamed up to make a TV show. The result? What looks like another hit for Showtime. The first look is finally available online. And sidenote, boy am I glad John Corbett is back on TV. He is one charming fella.

I’ve come across some amazing links the past few days. Who would I be if I didn’t share these nuggets with the edubTV public? A jerk that’s who.

  • Thank you PEOPLE Magazine.com for making this bad-ass Gossip Girl vs. Golden Girls quiz. Do I feel like an idiot for getting half of them wrong? Perhaps. But who knew Blanche never flashed a bartender to get free drinks? I bet I could find that in a deleted scene or two.
  • NERD ALERT: Someone took the time to put every LOST flash-forward in chronological order. I watch this show every week and I cannot wait until it makes sense.
  • Like a compass pointing towards magnetic north I was pulled towards YouTube today and my fingers crisscrossed the keys as if guided by the hand of a higher power. Where did I land? Pepper Ann. I used to love this oft-forgotten Saturday morning ABC cartoon and today I realized just how similar I was to this mop-topped, spectacled awkward teen…still. I might make the theme song my ringtone. Too much?
