The “Seriously Adam Lambert? Really?” Edition

  • Speaking of which, Scandalist put together 5 covers of “Ring of Fire” better than his last night.
  • In other Idol chatter, check out some of Paula Abdul’s “poetry.” I thought she’d gone of the deep end this year but it turns out she’s always been this way.
  • Seth Rogen may host SNL in April. Sweet! BTW did you catch SNL on Saturday? Tracy Morgan did a great job and we saw the triumphant return of Astronaut Jones. No new clip, I’m making do with the old ones.
  • Guess who signed on to do a cameo on The Cleveland Show? Sir Kanye!
  • And finally, my favorite non-TV related link of the week: Scanwiches I’ve yet to meet a food Tumblr I didn’t like.

I’ve been looking forward to writing this all day. Let’s not wait any longer.

  • Seth Macfarlane came in at Number 1 on Entertainment Weekly’s list of the 25 Smartest People In Television. He’s a creative and enterprising guy but this still ticks me off a bit.
  • Former Presidential Candidate and wrinkly old man Fred Thompson is returning to TV in a guest-arc on Life on Mars.
  • Sean Avery got kicked out of the NHL indefinitely for referring to his ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert (aka Kim Bauer from 24) as “sloppy seconds” in an interview before a game last week. 24 fans are throwing him a ticker-tape parade.
  • Jeff Lindsay had a guest spot on Dexter this week. He’s the author of the books the show is based on.
  • Dallas and Starr of Amazing Race are in fact dating. They are going to have the greasiest/most media hungry children ever.
  • Hey style mavens: Guess who’s doing a line of shoes and handbags for payless? Our fierce friend Christian Siriano
  • I was fully prepared to ditch my premium channels next month until I saw this clip from the L Word season premiere. Blast! I’m already hooked again.
  • And for those of you with the premiums, FunnyorDie.com is streaming the  season two premiere of Flight of the Conchords on December 17. That’s a few week’s prior to its air date on HBO.
  • And finally, in a three-way tie, My Favorite Non-TV Related Sites of the Week: 1. Phone My Phone: Finally, the internet is using its powers for good…to help me find my cell phone when I’m home alone. 2. Prop 8 The Musical: A little late getting around the internet, but still pretty awesome and finally, for your consideration, a walrus playing a teeny tiny saxophone.

Week 2 of Marry, Bop or Kill is going to be a doozy. So much good TV to celebrate.

Marry: Jon Hamm

I was pretty sure I wanted to marry Jon Hamm after his quick guest spot on a Gilmore Girls episode a few years back, but last night only solidified my resolve. Hamm hosted SNL last night and did a truly wonderful job. He was suave, funny and incorporated some awesome Mad Men moments, (including guest appearances by John Slattery and Elisabeth Moss). It was refreshing to see a really gifted actor take over the hosting spot because it took all of the sketches up a notch.

Boff: Linday Lohan on Ugly Betty

Lindsay Lohan returned to Ugly Betty this week and guess what? She didn’t suck, not even a little. Lohan reprised her role as Kimmie Kegan, Betty’s arch nemesis, and hilarity ensued. It kind of makes you wonder: If Lohan’s movies are no longer making money, why doesn’t she make the jump to the small screen for awhile to re-build her cache? She doesn’t necessarily have to do it with Betty but she’s off to a surprisingly good start. You can catch some of her finer moments here.

Kill: The Time Delay on Amazing Race

CBS, you know football games tend to run long. Please schedule your programming accordingly and factor in this delay. There’s no excuse to have 60 Minutes start 45 minutes late, thus pushing back the start of  Amazing Race to 7:45. Since you’ve decided not to stream Amazing Race online, the show has to be viewed live, a pretty serious inconvenience for those of us with full Sunday TV dockets. I know it may be in your best interest to make us sit through 60 Minutes and all of the advertisments on Amazing Race, but seriously people, it’s starting to get ridiculous.

Amazing Race won the Emmy for Best Reality Competition Program last night for the 6th time in a row. (Anyone else think it’s sad Phil Keoghan didn’t get nominated for best host? He runs circles around Howie Mandel.)

Anyway, the win really amped me up for season 13 of the show. In a really cool promotional effort, CBS placed advertisements for the upcoming season on rooftops of buildings near the Los Angeles airport so travelers can see them from airplanes. It’s apparently the “first-ever aerial view network billboards,” according to a statement released by the network.

CBS is also advertising the new season on printable e-tickets so every flyer can join in on the fun.

Can’t wait for lucky number 13 to begin!
