The other day I was chatting with a friend about her newly grown obsession with Parks & Rec. Now, my friend’s an entertainment-enthusiast, but she by no means gets… obsessed. I, on the other hand, do. In fact, I openly recognize, and admit to, my unhealthy and manic infatuation with the UK show, Skins.

Gen 3, Season 5 ended recently and since its’ absence and since I’m no longer scouring the internet to dl it illegally (shut up i’m going to buy it too…eventually), I’ve decided to take some time to reflect. well, reflect publicly. And, in the form of a list. because at least you like lists. I encourage you to add your lists in the comments. I’m talking to you mom! jk jk my mother doesnt do things for me. (or follow this blog, obvs).*

so here it goes (spoilers obvs):

1. all time favorite episode: Liv, s5

2. best character G1, G2, G3: Cassie, Thomas, Mini.

3. most interesting duo: Mini & Liv.

6. best scene, you know, artistically: Crazy Stalker Fell-In-Love-On-A-Train animation bit that almost made Emily kill herself.

7. most charged scene:  murder rock sex aka the effy camping shroom-fueled rock bashing over head then sex scene.

8. best intro: Freddie skateboarding up to JJ & Cook.

9. most ridiculous scene: thomas vs gangster eating the hot peppers. really close 2nd when cassie RAN AWAY TO NYC (WHAT). followed more closely by the entire American version’s season.

This morning, I purchased this beauty:

This noir-inspired work of genius comes courtesy of Mike Mitchell (you can also find him on twitter @sirmitchell). He did the piece for the Parks & Rec panel at Paley Fest. The poster is a limited edition so if you’re at all interested in purchasing one, I’d do it sooner than later.

If TV’s funniest comedy isn’t your style, Gallery 1988 also has a few other gorgeous pieces of boob-tube inspired art. Check out a few of them below.

Mork & Mindy

True Blood

Saved By The Bell

You can purchase any of these for me. My birthday is in August. I promise to act surprised.

You know those Groupons for canvas wrapped photo prints? They always seem like a great idea but since I don’t take enough photos or want giant pictures of my friends in my apartment, I never take advantage of them. But then, I saw this:

After years of more Twilight covers than I care to mention, Entertainment Weekly finally got something right.

Someone get the Canvas On Demand people on the phone. I need a 16″ X 20″ of this stat. It will look amazing next to my Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness poster.

So cute! I might cry and giggle uncontrollably. And by might, I mean I already did.

This is Kevin Clash. He’s the man behind Elmo. You can see him in this clip, and yet, you can’t. Once I see Elmo, all signs of the man that brings him to life are thrown to the wind.

That’s one lucky baby. This should be the trailer for Being Elmo. Boom Done.

I intended to write about Breaking Bad tonight. It’s been ridiculously wonderful lately. I flipped on the TV for some background noise and came across the season finale to Russell Simmons Brave New Voices

The show follows the 45 teams in the Youth Poetry Slam. These teens are ridiculous! Do you ever watch people that make you feel inadequate? The young people are honest, surprisingly confident, and fearless. Brave doesn’t begin to describe it.

They are some of the best slam poets in the country, age be damned. It’s impossible to watch them without being inspired, learning a thing or two, and challenging a few pre-conceived notions.

Invest an hour. Invest five or six. This show is impossible to describe, but a must see.

Here’s the first episode.

Yes, Mad Men is that good. The critically acclaimed show took home the award for Top International Television Show last night at the British Academy Of Film And Television Arts Awards.

I watch the reruns from season two before Breaking Bad on Sunday nights. Mad Men is just so well done, it’s hard to believe they’re pulling it off every week. Between the acting, the costume design, the art direction, the music, oh the list goes on. You just get lost in the story. Everything is just so…right.

It’s hard to explain if you don’t watch it…which you should.

I just found out that two of my favorite actresses are lesbians…I also found out they are dating each other.

Sarah Paulson (Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip) and Cherry Jones (24 and oodles of theater credits) have apparently been dating for quite some time now.

What lovely news! This vaguely reminds me of the first time I had a peanut butter cup.

“What? Two great things? Together!?”

Ain’t young love grand? And on a political side note: Kudos to the folks in Vermont for thinking so too.

January is basically the new September. Not only do you have to welcome brand new shows into your previously established and well-honed TV line-up (Damn you Trust Me!) but you have to find spots for old favorites that are just getting started like 24 and Lost. Without some organizational wizardry it can get pretty ridiculous. Thank heavens The TV Addict has come to my rescue once again and put together a calendar of the premieres and returning shows so you won’t miss anything.

You can download a copy for yourself right here!

And take a look at January 18th. My brain might explode from premium cable awesomeness.

The Trailer For 24 – Season 7!

Hey Bauer-Heads! The trailer for Season 7 of 24 hit the internet today and it looks unreal. Tony’s back and he’s a bad guy, the president is a lady, things get hijacked, Jack tells congress to shove it, and Chloe continues to be as snarky as ever.

With all of this time off, (including a break in the shooting for re-writes), and a TV movie to set the stage,  this season should be pretty awesome.

Anyone else on fire with optimism and excitement?

Today I decided to peruse through my On Demand menu to find something enjoyable to watch while I ate lunch. I stumbled into the HBO Series section and decided to watch the pilot episode of The Life & Times Of Tim. I have never been so instantly rewarded in my life.

TL&TOT is an animated comedy about an average guy who finds himself in some painfully awkward situations. The humor is bone-dry but fans of shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Home Movies will fall in love with Tim despite his constant slip-ups.

However, if you’re one of those people who  can’t make it through an episode of The Office because you think Michael is “so weird” then chances are you won’t get this show either. Seriously people, when I say the humor is dry, I mean it. You could start fires with the pilot.

The show is receiving mixed reviews from critics but I’m hoping it will stick around for awhile, especially since HBO has nothing left to lose at this point. The only wrinkle for the show may be the network actually. TL&TOT might find a better home on Cartoon Network’s late-night block Adult Swim, or even Comedy Central. Should the worst happen and HBO decides to bump it, I can definitely see one of those networks scooping up the re-runs.

But do your part and watch the show now. Need more convincing? Get started with some clips. I’m telling ya people, it’s my best find in a long time.
